Life Membership Eligibility

Membership Fee: $500 — One-Time Per Married Couple

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must reside in the United States.
  • Applicant must originate from Sonaimuri Pourashava, Bangladesh, through birth or family ancestry.
  • Naturalized United States citizens of qualifying Sonaimuri origin are eligible.
  • Applicants must provide accurate and complete membership information.
  • Supporting documentation may be requested for verification.
  • Membership requires approval by the authorized committee.
  • Both spouses must individually meet membership eligibility requirements.
  • Both spouses must be separately registered and approved to exercise individual voting rights.

Membership Fee and Benefits

  • One-time payment of $500 per married couple.
  • No recurring monthly membership dues.
  • No recurring annual membership dues.

Voting Rights

  • Voting eligibility begins upon individual membership approval.
  • No three-year waiting period applies.
  • Voting eligibility continues in future elections while the member remains in good standing.
  • Each eligible, individually approved member has one vote.
  • Voting rights remain subject to applicable election procedures and valid disciplinary restrictions.
General Membership

General Membership Eligibility

Membership Fee: $60 Per Year

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must reside in the United States.
  • Applicant must originate from Sonaimuri Pourashava, Bangladesh, through birth or family ancestry.
  • Naturalized United States citizens of qualifying Sonaimuri origin are eligible.
  • Applicants must provide accurate and complete membership information.
  • Supporting documentation may be requested for verification.
  • Membership requires approval by the authorized committee.

Membership Fee

  • Annual membership fee: $60.
  • Members must maintain payment of applicable annual dues.

Voting Rights

  • Voting eligibility requires three consecutive calendar years of membership in good standing.
  • All applicable dues must be paid by June 30 of the election year.
  • The member must maintain active membership status.
  • The member must not be subject to a valid disciplinary suspension affecting voting rights.
  • Each eligible General Member has one vote.

Online Membership Application Requirements

  • Membership applications may be submitted through the official Membership Service Portal.
  • Applicants must provide accurate and complete information.
  • All applications are subject to verification and approval.
  • Applications intended to establish voter eligibility must be submitted at least 15 days before the voter-registration deadline.
  • Only one valid membership application per individual is permitted.
  • Duplicate applications may be rejected.
  • Any nonrefundable application fee policy must be clearly disclosed and formally approved before implementation.

Member in Good Standing

  • Membership must be active and approved.
  • All applicable membership dues and obligations must be satisfied.
  • The member must not be under a valid disciplinary suspension affecting membership or voting rights.
  • Members must comply with applicable Society policies.
  • Life Members are not required to pay recurring membership dues.
Proposed Membership Guidelines — Subject to Formal Approval. The Society has not yet formally adopted its Constitution and Bylaws. These membership rules are proposals pending formal adoption and are not applied by the application, payment, or voting systems. Final membership requirements, fees, and voting procedures will be determined by the Society’s formally approved governing documents.
